If you have problems, let me know as soon as you can.
1. - We still have a custom design to build, so don't get too attached to the current template. The delays from COVID-19 set the move from Blackboard to SchoolMessenger back tremendously. It's a rush now to get everything moved over and set up without having any of our resources down.
2. - Teachers, we will help you set up a teacher site, or link out to your google, etc. sites as soon as possible, please be patient though. I'm two months behind on setting up the websites.
The links below will offer you, in some places, step by step instructions for editing your site, section or page.
We will add items as time goes by, but you can also use the "?" button at the top of your management panel shows up in the toolbar at the top of your work space in Presence.
If you're having problems and can't figure out what's going on, please send me an email and I will do my best to be of assistance.

How To Videos & Instructions
Welcome!
Email me if you have any questions or want me to make a new type of video "how to" for you.
Written Instructions:
1. - How to make an entry in your school’s SchoolMessenger website CALENDAR. On the final page, you will learn how to send your calendar entry to the District Activities Calendar!
2. - How to Add or Edit an External Link Sub-page for those links that go outside our PCPS websites.
Website Guidelines
Keep it simple! Your site does not have to be elaborate. Information is always the most critical component.
Backgrounds, if used at all, should be solid colors or have only minimal, dim patterns & stay consistent throughout your site. This helps your visitors know they are still on your site.
Use strong, contrasting colors for text and headings. For example: Light blue text on medium blue background can be very difficult to read.
Always the best: black text on white background.
Fonts are very limited in this Blackboard Web Community Manager, this provides consistency across all sites in the District.
ALWAYS describe your photo or image in the "alternative text" block. This provides a brief description of your photo or image for those who have difficulty seeing a screen or those who can't see and are using a screen reader. If your image is purely decorative, be sure to put that in your description or use double quotation marks. ADA Compliance requires this so screen readers used by those with visual disabilities can access your information as comprehensively as possible.
Don't overwhelm visitors with animations and pictures.
Don't forget to SAVE.
It's better to build a new page rather than make your Home Page too long. If you can scroll for more than two screens worth of information your page is too long!
Each School has a Webmaster or Tech Coach that you can contact for assistance with your website editing.
Or you can use the Email link on the main Help Page for help with a problem.

§ 107 . Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use40
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—
(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.
