The Ponca City High School Mock Trial team recently competed in the Qualifying Rounds of the Oklahoma Mock Trial Competition. Ponca City presented the Plaintiff’s case against Latta’s Defendant case and won 2 out of 2 scoring ballots. Abby Chamberlin was named Best Attorney, and Tori Benton was named Best Witness. In the afternoon round, Ponca City presented the Defendant’s case against Henryetta’s Plaintiff case and won 1 out of 2 scoring ballots. Abby Chamberlin was named Best Attorney, and Lily Post was named Best Witness. “This year’s case is a wrongful death civil suit that involves social media influence,” said teacher coach Zach Murray. “Despite some difficulties with provided case materials, we know what we need to work on for the quarterfinals.” The Mock Trial team will find out next week if they advance to the quarterfinals.
