The Ponca City High School Symphonic Orchestra earned superior ratings on stage and in sight-reading Tuesday afternoon at the OSSAA State Orchestra Contest held at Edmond Santa Fe High School. Since the orchestra received superior ratings at their fall contest, the group has earned the OSSAA Sweepstakes Award. This award is the highest honor that can be earned by a high school orchestra in Oklahoma. The group performed “Pirate’s Legend” by Soon Hee Newbold and “Nocturne” by Hoefeldt.
Director Paula Cochran would like to thank all of the students and directors for their hard work today. “It takes a village!” she said.
A special thank you also goes to Katie Rolf, Cassidy Broome, Trent Davis, Dan Larson and Dr. John Clinton.
Please join us for our Orchestras In Review concert on Tuesday, February 27th. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Ponca City Schools Concert Hall. Admission is free and this concert will feature fifth through 12th grade orchestras.
