Career and Internship Fair Set March 13
Ponca City Development Authority and Ponca City Public Schools Join Forces to Address Workforce Needs at Career and Internship Fair
In a landmark partnership aimed at addressing the urgent need for career awareness and workforce development, the Ponca City Development Authority (PCDA) and Ponca City Public Schools (PCPS) are proud to announce the upcoming Career and Internship Fair. This collaborative effort underscores the shared commitment to preparing the next generation for the dynamic job market of tomorrow.
With over 1,000 job openings currently available in Ponca City, the need for career awareness and workforce readiness has never been more critical. Recognizing this challenge, PCDA and PCPS have joined forces to bridge the gap between education and industry, cultivating a pipeline of skilled talent to meet the evolving needs of the local workforce.
"The economic development and education alliance between PCDA and PCPS is essential for driving workforce development and economic growth in Ponca City," said Liz Leaming, Ponca Works Director at PCDA. "As we look to the future, it's imperative that we equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an ever-changing job market."
Generation Z is poised to become our most flexible workforce yet, with many of them entering jobs that don't even exist today. To prepare students for this reality, PCPS has implemented an internship program designed to foster soft skills and adaptability. This program plays a crucial role in shaping a flexible and dynamic workforce capable of thriving in the face of uncertainty.
"The internship program at PCPS is instrumental in preparing students for the transition from the classroom to the workplace," said Jordan Jackson-Gross, Internship Co-Ordinator at PCPS. "By providing real-world experience and mentorship opportunities, we're empowering students to become confident and capable professionals."
The Career and Internship Fair serves as a cornerstone event in this ongoing effort to prepare students for future success. By connecting students with local employers and providing valuable insights into various career pathways, the Career and Internship Fair aims to inspire and empower the next generation of workforce talent.
And let's not forget about the graduating seniors. This is a prime opportunity to market any job openings you have that can be filled by these eager soon-to-be graduates. Tap into their energy and enthusiasm as they prepare to take their first steps into the professional world.
The Career and Internship Fair will take place on March 13 from 10:30-12:45 at Ponca City High School. To sign up to attend the Career and Internship Fair please visit GoPonca.com/workforce or call 580-765-7070.
