On Thursday, November 28th, the 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was held in New York City, New York. Attending and performing in the parade were two Ponca City High School seniors: Rheagan Bohon, captain of the Po Hi-Steppers, and Brynn Vincent, lieutenant of the Po Hi-Steppers. Bohon and Vincent were both selected as All-American Dancers at American Dance/Drill Team summer camp, held in June 2024.
This selection came with the invitation to perform in the parade with Spirit of America Cheer and Pom.
The girls and their families flew out on Saturday, November 23rd and spent a fun-filled week in New York City visiting the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial and Liberty Park, the Oculus, the Empire State Building, Times Square, 5th Avenue, and Rockefeller Center. The girls were also treated to one of the newest shows on Broadway, Hell’s Kitchen, and were able to attend the world famous Rockettes’ Christmas Spectacular.
In addition to all of the sightseeing, the girls were busy practicing daily for their performance in the parade and at Herald Square. They put in over 17 hours of practice in preparation for the big day.
On parade morning the girls had one last dress rehearsal that began at 5:30 am and then headed to Central Park West to line up. The 2.5-mile-long parade route wound through the streets of New York and ended at Macy’s Herald Square. There, Bohon and Vincent performed in front of a national television audience with over 600 other dancers and cheerleaders. The parade was broadcast on NBC.
Congratulations to these young ladies on such an outstanding honor.
