A Memo to Parents 9-20

Today, during our normal learning day, staff was made aware of an adult near our building on a bicycle acting erratic. Staff monitored our students and were very aware of this individual. When the individual moved near the school, the decision to bring all kids inside was made and a lock down was initiated. All exterior doors were locked, authorities were notified and our students continued on their day in their rooms and locked building. Ponca City Police and Ponca City Schools administration arrived quickly, made contact with the individual, and intervened. The individual was issued a trespassing citation and was arrested for outstanding warrants. At no time were our students in danger and all proper procedures were followed. Administrators and teachers have been monitoring students this afternoon and it appears there has been minimal disruption to our learning day.

We’re appreciative of the Ponca City Police, our school resource officers, and administration for their quick response.
